Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival

U Curragh

The Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival takes place over three days from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th May 2023 with the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas on the Saturday and the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Gold Cup on the Sunday.

The Irish Guineas Weekend is a thrilling flat racing meeting for thoroughbred horses held at the famous Curragh Racecourse in County Kildare, Ireland.

The Irish 2,000 Guineas was inaugurated in 1921, a year before the establishment of the 1,000 Guineas. The former is a race for 3-year-old horses and the latter is specifically for 3-year-old female horses. They are the Irish equivalent of the Guineas races held at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile and the field often includes runners who raced in the English version earlier in spring. The Curragh’s Festival is a celebration of the sport in Ireland as well as an opportunity to soak up the party atmosphere.

As it features the first Irish Classics of the flat racing season, the Irish Guineas Festival marks the exciting start of a thrilling summer of speed and stamina.

Venneri u 26 di Maghju – Day 1 of the Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival, is themed as Friday Night Fever. Official betting partner for the festival, Novibet, will sponsor three of the eight races on the card including the feature race of the day, the Novibet Emerald Mile. Superb 70’s band ABBAESQUE will perform live after racing. There will be a spot prize for the best 70’s outfit on the evening with the winner taking home 4 tickets to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

Saturday 27th May – Day 2 of the Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival, the first of the Irish Classics for 2023 with the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas. There will be live music after racing from NITETRAIN in Champions Hall.

Sunday 28th May – Day 3 of Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival. It’s Ladies Day at The Curragh and racing will feature the second Irish Classic of the year, The Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas, a race for the fillies, as well as the Tattersalls Gold Cup. This year’s style prize includes a magnum of Moet courtesy of our official champagne partner and an overnight stay for two at the five-star luxury Cashel Palace Hotel, including dinner for two in The Bishop’s Buttery and full Irish breakfast in the Queen Anne Room on the morning of departure.
